.ae domain FAQs
Do have to be from the United Arab Emirates to register this domain?
No, it can registered by anyone, subject to the standard domain name restrictions.
Should I register alternate versions of my .ae domain?
We’d recommend buying other available versions of your company name with different popular top-level domains.
But that is entirely up to you. How much do you value your brand and customers? Do you think you could become a target for fraud?
For example, if you had the yourcompany.ae web address, a competitor or criminal could buy a similar domain, like yourcompany.ac. They could use it to compete, or even worse: fool your customers into being scammed. However, as we’ve said, you need to use your own judgement there.
How do I start saving on renewal prices by transferring my .ae domain to you?
You will need to get the domain name authorisation code from your current provider. Then, you need to search for your domain in our ‘Transfer a domain’ tool in our control panel, My20i (you can sign up for free here).
You can then start the transfer, which can take up to five days (but your website will remain online).

Will I get a free year for transferring a .ae domain?
You won’t lose any time already paid for on your .ae domain by transferring to 20i and once the domain transfer has completed you’ll get an additional year applied for free!
Why is it '.ae' and not '.uae'?
It’s likely that it’s related the International Standards Organisation code, where the two-letter ‘Alpha 2’ version is AE. Country-code domains can only be two letters, so it makes sense to choose those two.
