.in domain FAQs
What restrictions are there on registering .in domain names?
Like most other country-code domains, there are no unusual restrictions, unless you want to register 3 or more. If you plan to register in bulk - which is defined as individuals registering more than 2 or an entity registering more than 100 - are required to seek prior approval from the National Internet Exchange of India.
How do I start saving on renewal prices by transferring my .in domain to you?
It’s easy to transfer a .in domain to 20i. You will need to get the domain name authorisation code (sometimes called EPP code) from your current provider. Then, you need to search for it in our ‘Transfer a domain’ tool in our control panel, My20i.
You can then start the transfer, which can take up to five days (but your website will remain online). The transferral fee will give you one year’s registration of the domain.

Should I register other versions of my .in domain?
We’d recommend buying other available versions of your company name with different popular top-level domains. But it’s entirely up to you, and depends on how much you value your brand and customers.
For example, if you had the yourcompany.in web address, a competitor or criminal could buy yourcompany.io, which it could be mistaken-for. They could use it to compete, or even worse: fool your customers into being scammed.
Will I get a free year for transferring a .in domain?
You won’t lose any time already paid for on your .in domain by transferring to 20i and once the domain transfer has completed you’ll get an additional year applied for free!
